History of Seaside Heights​

• Seaside Park, NJ is a small borough located on the Jersey Shore in Ocean County, NJ. The history of Seaside Park is closely tied to the development of the Jersey Shore as a popular summer destination.

• In the late 1800s, the area that is now Seaside Park was primarily used for farming and fishing. However, with the growing popularity of the Jersey Shore as a summer destination, developers began to see the potential for building a beach resort in the area. In 1878, a group of investors purchased a large tract of land in the area and began developing it as a summer resort. They named the resort Seaside Park, and it quickly became a popular destination for vacationers.

• The resort included a hotel, cottages, and a large boardwalk. The boardwalk featured a variety of shops, restaurants, and amusement attractions, making it a popular destination for visitors. The town also had several large pavilions, which were used for concerts and other events.

• In the early 1900s, the town continued to grow and attract more visitors. The boardwalk was expanded, and new attractions were added, including a roller coaster and a carousel. The town also began to attract more year-round residents and became a popular place to live as well as visit.

• In 1913, a devastating fire destroyed much of the town and many of the buildings were destroyed. However, the town was quickly rebuilt, and it continued to be a popular destination for vacationers.

• Throughout the 20th century, Seaside Park remained a popular destination for summer vacations. However, in the 1960s and 1970s, the town began to decline as more people began to vacation at other Jersey Shore destinations. In the 1980s, a revitalization effort was undertaken, and the town was rebuilt and renovated. Today, Seaside Park is a popular destination for visitors, with a large boardwalk, a variety of shops and restaurants, and a wide range of activities and attractions.
